- Conducting the Big Butterfly Month
Jungle Lore dedicates a special month to the betterment and conservation of butterflies in Pangot. During this specific month, experts and naturalists visit Pangot and celebrate the existence of this species by carrying out butterfly and moth watching. With this activity taking place every year, a database gets created that keeps track of the progress. The identification and addition of butterflies is an essential step that helps the lodge to maintain a record for future generations and references. During these reports, species like Pallid Argus, Kumaun Five Ring, Common Punch, etc, were newly added to the acknowledged biodiversity of the place.
- The Butterfly Exploration Weekends
It is a special initiative by the lodge to dedicate a 2-day, 3-night exploration weekend to butterfly observation. In these special trails, the visitors go on nature trails, where they spot butterflies and with the help of the expert who is accompanying them, they understand the behaviour pattern, the process of metamorphosis, and the contribution of butterflies to our ecosystem. The increased awareness of the people in this domain helps them to understand the family of Lepidoptera in a better manner.

- Providing Nurturing Support by growing the Host Plant
Plants such as daisies, lilies, etc, are specifically planted in order to promote the growth of butterflies in the area. These plants act like the hosts or native plants, wherein butterflies not just lay eggs but also form their Chrysalis on these plants, which is a crucial step in the process of metamorphosis. Further, the growth of plants such as the nettles and berberis is supported, as they bring variety to the Lepidoptera family in the region. These plants are specially grown in masses to support an increase in the number of butterflies.
- Following the principles of ecotourism and conservation.
The vision of Asian Adventures is “Tourism for Conservation, Conservation for Tourism”, and we have made sure this motto extends to every species of the ecosystem, and butterflies are an integral part of this ecosystem too. Jungle Lore follows policies such as zero plastic and no litter during the stay of their guests. We have the aim of making Pangot, Zero Waste Pangot. This would help the butterfly habitat flourish more in a less polluted and plastic-free environment. Jungle Lore has even formed a community for the conservation of biodiversity, which includes butterflies. These communities consist of local youth who are trained in maintaining the ecology around them.
These efforts have gone a long way in bringing about a difference and conserving not just a family but a legacy for the future generations to come
