Kumaon architecture is known to be very unique. Traditional Kumaon houses have stone walls, mud floors, and slate roofs. They also have courtyards. Other than the traditional house styles, the temples, monuments, and structures that had been built about a thousand years ago have a similar architectural style known as Himadri. Several temples have the post-Gupta architecture. These temples include Katarmal, Thal, Jageshwar, Almora, Baijnath, Gangolihat, Someshwar, Dwarahat, Patal Bhubaneshwar and Marsoli.
